Who am I?

2015-08-07-12-16-52-281

My name is Lisa.  I am a wife and mother of three amazing children.  My oldest daughter has significant special needs and I also  have boy/girl twins.   Many, many years ago I met my husband at our local gym.  We were both into physical fitness.  He has done physique competitions in the past, but I have not.  I was more of your aerobics girl for many years, then I started using machines, then I ventured into free weights.  I didn’t have the best diet so while I was fit, I was just like a lot of the other girls at the gym.  Not lean, but not fat.  When I had my daughter I decided to quit my job to be at home to care for her due to her severe special needs.  This led to lots of unhealthy eating and minimal exercise, if any.  I did some of my old Turbo Jam and P90 tapes now and again but nothing really stuck.  I didn’t take control of my health and body until January of 2010.  I decided to focus on changing my diet first and add fitness later.  I did this so that I wouldn’t overwhelm myself and fail again.  This seemed to work for me.  I got the weight off and started P90X and was amazed at the changes my body was able to make!  I have thyroid disease so I always thought I’d carry some extra fluff…  Then, in the fall of 2010 I got pregnant, with twins….  I did do pregnancy workouts for about half of the pregnancy, but my legs got so swollen I couldn’t bend them, never mind workout on them.  After the twins were born, and I had turned 40 during the pregnancy, I told myself that I would get right back to working out.  That didn’t happen because of sacroiliac joint pain that was pretty severe and required physical therapy.  Sometimes I could barely walk. It was due to my lifting my older daughter from the floor to her wheelchair several times a day during the pregnancy.  Crazy, I know.  So, after three rounds of PT it still hurt and I was pretty upset.  So, I said, enough is enough.  I started to do Turbo Fire and fell back in love with pushing my body.  I made incredible progress using that program and best of all, decreased my SI joint pain to almost nothing.  I also added in clean, gluten free eating and I can honestly say at my age, I never could have imagined that I would be this fit.  I am definitely in the best shape of my life and always will be improving!  There is no stopping me.  I loved feeling this way so much that I wanted to help others to feel this way as well.  That is my reason  for wanting to be a Beachbody coach.  I truly want others to know that it is possible, even over 40 and after twins, to be healthy on the inside and out.  I would love to help you in your fitness journey and help make suggestions for your diet to help you achieve your goals.  You are only given one body, treat it with respect and it will be good to you!
